Many people I know don’t bother with scarves. They might even strike some as old-fashioned. But keeping the neck warm is important. Why? It’s a surprisingly helpful way to prevent catching a cold or subjecting your body to unnecessary temperature-related stress.
For most working adults, summer is just the time of year when you hope the air conditioner in your car keeps working. It no longer has that sense of magic and opportunity, because it’s just another part of the routines we so often find ourselves stuck in. But it can also be a great time of year to break routines and try new ways of living.
Many people I know believe that busyness is a sign of virtue, of accomplishment, and even character. But more and more, I don’t think this is healthy. By believing we have to be busy all the time, we put ourselves under a great deal of stress, and ignore the benefits of quiet, down time and relaxation.
