Curious about chiropractic? I hope you'll enjoy this popular post from our archives that covers the basics about how chiropractic care can help you recover and STAY well.
So many people ask me, who needs chiropractic? And my thought is -- who doesn’t need it?
It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, young or old -- chiropractic deals with the structure of the human body and taking pressure off the nervous system, allowing the body to function at its full potential.
Another frequent question I receive is, what causes a misalignment?
There are 3 primary causes: physical, emotional and chemical. Examples of physical causes are automobile accidents, sports injuries, dental work, blows to the head or body, a difficult birth, and chronic poor posture at the computer. Stress is a common emotional cause of misalignment. Introduce me to one person who doesn’t seem a little stressed! Chemical causes can include environmental pollutants or toxins in our food, water, or products we use on our bodies. Misalignments can occur throughout your body frame: head, neck, spine, shoulders, and/or hips.
Who isn’t affected by the causes listed above?
Chiropractic therapy has been around for over 100 years.
It’s simple, basic, and we know it works. It can be your first line of defense. You might try chiropractic before turning to more invasive procedures, and see how your body responds.
One dear patient of mine, a nurse, came for a treatment and said, “I think I need shoulder surgery.” I adjusted her shoulder and she didn’t need surgery any more! Your body knows what to do. Chiropractic simply supports the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
It’s like when you cut yourself. You can clean and bandage the cut to support healing -- but you can’t rush it, take a pill, or do the healing for your body. The body has it’s own way of mending itself. If you’re experiencing pain from an injury or misalignment, you can promote your body’s natural healing by getting a chiropractic adjustment, eating healthy, gently exercising, and lowering your stress.
Even better: for optimal wellness, take these steps preventatively! Get adjusted regularly, and be ready for what life may bring.
